The Best Things To Do In Rainy Season In Phuket
Phuket is famous for many things, and one of those is the Rainy Season. This tends to last between June and October but has been known to continue until as late as December.
During this period, it’s a bit harder to enjoy some of the most fun activities that Phuket has to offer, such as beaches, swimming, scuba diving and so on. That doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of other things to do, though.
Here are a few of our favourite ones:
Visit A Night Market
Naka Weekend Market is fully undercover, so a bit of rain won’t stop you having a good time, which is why it’s the perfect place to spend a rainy day in Phuket. We are Phuket’s most famous night market, and visitors from all over the island flock to see us every weekend.
At Naka Weekend Market, you can spend all evening sampling the many traditional Thai street food stalls available, or go shopping for a new outfit, Souvenir hunting, or kick back and watch the live bands showcased each weekend. It’s a great day out for all of the family.
Enjoy A Phuket Spa Day
You’ll find massage shops and spas littered around Phuket that offer a range of treatments and massage styles. It’s a great way to spend the day relaxing, no matter what your budget is.
You can get treatments from as little as a few hundred baht depending on where you go. These include body scrubs, facials, massages and such. If you’re feeling really adventurous, try out the traditional Thai Massage and have your body pulled, rocked and stretched to its limits.
Central Festival & Jungecylon
The two largest shopping centres on the island are Central Festival & Jungecylon, with Central found in a number of locations and Jungecylon only found in Patong.
You can eat and shop until you drop in either, and both have entertainment zones which can include cinemas, video games, soft play areas, bars and bowling alleys. There are plenty of activities to keep the whole family amused.
Phuket Trickeye Museum
For any traveller wanting to make sure they’ve got plenty of fun pics to take home with them, the Trickeye Museum is a must. Each area is designed and detailed to give off a 3D effect which can lead to some great photo opportunities. This is something all of the family can enjoy also.
Visit An Aquarium
There are a couple of Aquariums in Phuket to choose from, depending on your location. If you’re on the southern tip of the island, The Phuket Aquarium at Cape Panwa will be your closest.
It’s not the biggest aquarium, but it is host to many different types of colorful sea creatures, and is also Phuket’s Marine Biolofical Center which is dedicated to the rescue of turtles, dolphins and dugongs that occassionaly become stranded on our shores.
The other option is the amazing Aquaria Phuket in Central, Phuket Town. This aquarium is advertised as the largest one in Thailand and is said to be home to over 25,000 sea creatures, from over 300 species.
Here you can see stingrays, penguins, sharks, giant freshwater fish and more, and you will also be able to assist with animal feeding during certain parts of the day.
The Famous Phuket Caberet Show
It’s impossible to come to Phuket and not hear about the famous Caberet Shows, with the most famous being Simon Caberet. This is a unique experience, and promises laughter and entertainment, all set in a luxurious venue.
The Caberet shows are recommended for anyone that wants to take a walk on the wild side and enjoy some colourful fun.
We hope you’ve enjoyed our list of what to do when it rains in Phuket, and you go on to try out a few of these great places.
